Air Products: celebrating 50 years in Britain (1950-2000)
What started as a joint venture with the engineering company, Butterly, near Wrexham, Wales, is today a £365 million turnover UK business embloying approximately 2000 people, servicing close to 100,000 customers the length and breadth of the British Isles.
Our first operation started by designing and building oxygen generators to feed the then growing requirements of steel making and manufacture.
Fifty years on and our gases and technologies are used in solutions as diverse as freezing hamburgers, keeping bags of crisps fresh and supplying the quality welding gases used to manufacture the handbuilt Bristish performance car, TVR.
Strength in the UK has also been the platform for growth in Europe. The company's Surrey offices are the head.
In our 50 years in Britain, we have collected the distinguished Queens Awards for exports on five separate occassions - an official stamp of the highest order confirming our British Credentials.
