Fingersafe is a door hinge guard that prevents fingers from being jammed, crushed or even a serious injury that can lead to broken bones or amputation at the hinged end of doors. Each year it has been estimated there are nearly 300,000 door-related finger injuries world wide. The MK1A is the most commonly recognized Fingersafe component and looks like an accordion. The MK1A fits over the fulcrum side of a door hinge opening (the side which the inside of the hinge assembly is exposed). This area is known to be the most common spot for injury to occur because it opens wider than the other side of the door.
Fingersafe is now installed in many public places, including McDonald's, Sainsbury's, Tescos, and KFC to name but a few. It is rapidly becoming an essential fixture in many schools, colleges and healthcare centres all over the UK. Fingersafe is a unique concertina door guard, being the result of 10 years in-field development, it adds no resistance to the door operation and allows 180 degrees opening.
